Kaoru's Rebloggs |
Here I reblogg posts that I can use as reference in the future for my works ;) See for my actual blogg: http://kurohanekaoru.tumblr.com |
General points (not really summary) of the top ten projects I’m currently, simultaneously expanding upon. I rarely talk about them so here they are. I find I can never concentrate on one at a time very efficiently, so just let the ideas seep into me slowly.
There are more series, but they’re in the back-burner for now. Sorry if it’s all rather vague. I don’t want to dive into spoilers.
- Endless Twilight: a dramatic desert-fantasy romance. The story of two people who eventually meet in a desolate and harsh landscape. One is trying to overcome loneliness and abandonment, the other is trying to escape from persecution. The nuance of the story is feeling trapped and caged outside and inside. There’s a lot of symbolism thrown around. I haven’t figured out a way to go about presenting it yet (short story).
- Tale of Ruirin Fae: a light-hearted fantasy-adventure story with a fairy who never left home before. One day she meets a boy who tells her all sorts of stories and adventures he once had. When they eventually must part, he tells her to go see the world and tell him of her adventures next time they meet. Has a bit of a Kino no Tabi feel to it. A multiverse series of short, bitter-sweet stories.
- Untitled (Ziya): running through about five billion possible concepts for this one. Can’t make up my mind. Was originally about a clever but lazy, low-ranked deity and her assistant, who became entrusted with the duty of recording all creatures onto the mythical bestiary —- but was eventually scrapped because I felt the idea was lame and difficult to expand into original territory. Now the story is sort of leaning towards a really messed up train-wreck of a Xanatos-Gambit drama. To be talked about another time…
- Yodachishi: a philosophical comedy series. The story of a boy who obeys and a girl who defies, and how they influence each other and those around them. The setting is high-class society with Inuhito Hatsuharu being the crudest, most audacious entity around. Her very presence is a problem to the neighborhood. On a glance she looks like a Yankee, but she’s actually very hard-working and ethical when it matters (although, only when it matters;;). The title is short for: “your daddy is chicken shit”. The series is pretty ridiculous. I need to read a lot more on religion and philosophy in order to pull it off. Currently the last project on my mind out of the ten.
- Transcendent: a cultural, political, sci-fi tale of a rather eccentric and enigmatic girl and her normal-not-so-normal-prey. Hyousa has been extremely interested in aliens and space ever since she thought she saw one as a child. She’s particularly interested in the class president, Souma, whom she believes to be an alien. The story later moves into outer space where Hyousa tries to understand and learn about various advanced extraterrestrial civilizations. Currently the most controversial story I’m working on; brings up ethics a lot. Still working with the characters but in general, Hyousa is intelligent and relaxed. Can be overly curious and a little impolite at times but is never pretentious or disrespectful. Writhed with sci-fi theories, this one. I have a few really cool bio-genetic-centered events planned.
- Somnium: a psychological, meta-sci-fi drama. The story revolves around Mugen, a boy who becomes involved in a car accident which puts him in a coma. In his deep sleep, he passes the state (or rather, “gate”) of simple dreaming and enters a place where thoughts and dreams from all over the world connect and converge. During this time he meets two twin girls whose appearances changes from older to younger inexplicably. They vaguely remind him of a person he aught to remember but cannot. Along with them, he meets other people whose thoughts have converged to this subspace. Involves dream theory and multiple reality theories. Somewhat inspired by Jung’s collective consciousness—-except materialized and objectified, along with other personal theories of mine.
- Untitled (Hearte & Bell): a mahou-shoujo, parody, comedy; that dabbles a little into gender and social issues. Won’t go into details right now but it’s currently what I’m working on the most.
- Untitled (Holos): Changed Haccen’s name to Holos, or maybe adding onto. This is a free-form fantasy-adventure story about a “boy” and his granddaughter on a mission to reverse a certain “symptom” plaguing the land. General concept-wise, it’s possibly my most surreal(?). Also won’t go into details ‘til I’ve fleshed it out a little more.
- ATEA: josei, romance, fantasy, drama. Trying to explore the complicated mess that is human relationships through an almost equally elaborate set-up. Atea’s most interesting aspect is the materialization and externalization of many metaphysical concepts. Objectifying and giving physical form to “pride” and “loyalty” for example. Setting-wise, it is my magnum opus. Has the largest cast of characters, the most detailed setting/culture, and possesses the longest story line. The current version is 360 degrees from the original form (which was a sparkly, musical shoujo, haha…). Ahh…it’s too long to talk about but the story starts off with a splash…quite literally —- the main character suicides in the first scene by drowning herself.
- Terracotta Theatre: In a time and place similar to industrial period England, one woman sets up an establishment known as the “Terracotta Orphanage” where she takes in abandoned children of various ages from all over the world; her motive is a mystery. The establishment is self-funded through weekly and voluntary improv-plays the residence put on. This is a story about how the nine people came to meet each other and would come to leave each other over the span of nine years. A somewhat economy-inspired story because I was studying economic history when I conceptualized it. Of the nine cast members, only Korokoro is shown so far, I believe. Not sure if I want to add discrimination by persecution but that would be interesting. Kind of serves another character’s purpose pretty well.

Me drawing my OC Kyouhei with a new haircut, suggested by a friend on Facebook. It makes him look even girlier OTL
His right eye is a bit too high, sorry. =w=
You may have been (sick of) hearing me complaining about people comparing my artworks with Uta no Prince-sama. But well, why don’t I just play along? :B
You can watch the sketch process of Ren and Masato here. Sorry very small resolution, I forgot to fix the setting ;A;

It’s a beautiful night!
We’re looking for something dumb to do.
